A Conversation with Spike Lee
Legendary Leaders Event, Spike Lee and Qiviuk
On Saturday, January 18th, at the Banff Centre, director Spike Lee was interviewed live on stage by Globe and Mail's Ian Brown as a part of the Heather and N Murray Edwards Legendary Leaders Event, and Qiviuk was part of this memorable night.
Spike Lee is a writer, director, actor, producer, and author who revolutionized the role of Black talent in cinema. Widely regarded as the premier African-American filmmaker in the world, Lee is a forerunner in the “do it yourself” school of independent film. His movies, or “Spike Lee Joints,” include She’s Gotta Have It, Do The Right Thing, Mo’ Better Blues, Malcolm X, Clockers, Summer of Sam, and most recently, Oldboy.
